About Us

Blue Island Divers boat on Antiparos

For more than two decades, Blue Island Divers has made its home on Antiparos, where we’ve had the pleasure of instructing and exploring the depths with divers from all around the globe. As a distinguished PADI 5-star center, we’re equipped to provide instruction in a wide array of courses offered by the organisation, although our tropical locale means we don’t delve into ice diving. Rest assured, our affiliation with the world’s largest diving organisation ensures that we maintain the highest standards and support for our diving endeavors.

Blue Hole, Dahab.

Gary

Gary has been a staff instructor for many years, and when PADI introduced their freediving programme, he also became an instructor in that discipline. As freediving grows in popularity, he certifies more students each year. He has now advanced to become a freediver instructor trainer. Additionally, Gary is a yoga teacher and incorporates yoga into his freediving training.

Laura

Laura, a Master Scuba Diver Trainer, completed her training in Devon, England. She has extensive experience teaching scuba diving in Egypt, Thailand, and Vietnam, working with students of diverse ages and backgrounds. Outside of diving, Laura is a care worker, supporting individuals with learning disabilities and mental health challenges—a profession she has passionately pursued since early adulthood.

Albena

Albena is a Scuba Instructor passionate about the octopus and small  fish. She loves navigating the underwater landscapes: rocks, caverns, swim-throughs – she calls it “hiking underwater”. When not scuba diving, she teaches yoga, and is always curious about other ways to live a healthy life: shiatsu, tai chi… She is also a translator and loves languages.

What

During the COVID winter a small kitten appeared and kept making noises and hanging around. As we kept asking her what she wanted, we decided to name her What.

She can usually be found waiting at the dive centre for divers to return and is happy to be scratched behind the ear.

NotWhat

This cat appeared recently, and as she looks similar to our original one, it was decided to name her NotWhat.

But she is still afraid of people, though is slowly coming around.
